A very successful event was held at Heartland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 20, 2018 for the Presbytery's El Salvador Our Sister Parish mission. Our teacher, Katie Albrecht Black, of El Arte Uncorked, led the group in painting a wonderful Salvadoran painting. A total of $800.00 was collected through registrations and free-will offerings for the day. A big thank-you goes out to all who participated.

Five Presbytery of Des Moines congregations have joined the faithful ranks of churches around the country that respond with compassionate action to end hunger in a country and world that have the potential to feed everyone.

Those recognized as Covenant and Certified Hunger Action Congregations were presented at the 510th Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Des Moines at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines on November 14. They are:

  • Dallas Center, First Presbyterian Church
  • Des Moines, Central Presbyterian Church
  • Indianola, Trinity United Presbyterian Church
  • Newton, First Presbyterian Church
  • Oskaloosa, First Presbyterian Church

The 511th Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Des Moines will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 6426 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, Iowa. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m.
